New MG Hector Facelift (2026): Launch, Prices, and What’s New
MG Motor India has officially launched the latest facelifted Hector in India, with aggressive introductory prices starting at ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This latest update aims to reinforce the SUV's dominance in the competitive mid-size segment. Originally introduced in 2019, the Hector was the first in its class to offer a panoramic sunroof and a vertical touchscreen. The new model builds on this legacy with refreshed cosmetics and updated cabin themes.
What has changed in the 2026 MG Hector?
This latest iteration marks the SUV’s second major facelift. While the 2023 update brought a comprehensive overhaul to the exterior and feature list, the 2026 update is more subtle, focusing on cosmetic refinements to keep the look fresh against newer rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Harrier.
Exterior Updates
Front Design: The most visible change is the new Aura Hex front grille. It replaces the previous diamond mesh with a bolder vertical hexagonal pattern, giving the face a more imposing look. The front bumper has also been tweaked with revised chrome detailing around the air dam.
Side & Rear: The silhouette remains identical, but the SUV now rides on redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the connected LED tail-lamp cluster pairs with a restyled bumper.
New Colours: MG has introduced two new paint options to the palette: Celadon Blue and Pearl White.
Interior Updates
Cabin Themes: The 5-seater Hector now features a dual-tone Ice Grey interior theme, while the 7-seater Hector Plus gets a premium Urban Tan finish.
Tech Enhancements: The 14-inch HD portrait infotainment system now supports iSwipe, a new gesture control feature that allows users to control AC, music, and ambient lighting with simple finger swipes.

Performance and Specs
Mechanically, the Hector remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the reliable 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed Manual or a CVT automatic. The 2.0-litre diesel engine (170 PS) continues to be available with a manual transmission, though updated pricing for the diesel lineup is pending.
Safety suite
Safety remains a key focus area for the Hector. The SUV continues to offer six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and a surround-view camera. Select variants are equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking.

The MG Hector competes in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, where it goes up against models such as the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.

User Reviews
Quality not as expected
It's a heavy car so the 1.5L engine feels stressed on hills. The suspension is too soft so it wobbles on highways. Interior is spacious but ergonomics are not great. Too much dependence on the touchscreen for everything.By: Rudransh Dhyani (Feb 24, 2026)

Electronics failing
Comfort is great but fuel efficiency is a nightmare. I am barely getting 7 kmpl in the city with AC. Also the software is very slow to boot up. Sometimes I have to wait for 30 seconds just to use the reverse camera.By: Samarjeet Lamba (Feb 24, 2026)

High maintenance
There are rattles from the sunroof after 3000km. Some plastic bits inside feel cheap for a car of this price. The CVT has a loud whining sound when pushed hard. Not happy with the fit and finish overall. Too much bling.By: Adhiraj Baghel (Feb 24, 2026)

Lagging experience
Getting 7-8 kmpl in Chennai traffic. Petrol cost is eating my pocket. Car is heavy so it feels underpowered when fully loaded. The 14 inch screen is more of a distraction than a help. Service is okay but expensive parts.By: Shivendra Parihar (Feb 24, 2026)

Average Performance
Multiple electronic glitches since day one. Sensors give false alarms. Service center keeps the car for days for small software updates. Resale value is also not good. Better to stick with Toyota or Mahindra.By: Tanmaya Kukreti (Feb 24, 2026)
