Ducati DesertX Discovery unveiled. Check what's different

Ducati has unveiled a new version of the DesertX in the global market. It is called DesertX Discovery and it is the third version of the DesertX that is going on sale in the global market after the standard DesertX and DesertX Rally. When compared, the DesertX Discovery comes with cosmetic changes as well as feature additions.

The DesertX Discovery gets a new livery with black and Ducati Red with new decals that can be replaced in case the motorcycle takes a fall. Then there are a few other changes such as touring windscreen that helps in reducing wind blast and reduces fatigue for the rider. It also comes with turn-by-turn navigation with a license that is valid for five years.

There is also a bull bar to protect the fuel tank and the water pump in case the motorcycle falls. There is also a radiator guard that protects it from the debris during off-roading. Ducati has also equipped the Discovery variant with a bash plate to protect the engine. Then there is the centre stand that can come in handy to park the motorcycle safely and in case to fix a puncture.

The Discovery variant of the DesertX uses the same engine as the standard DesertX

Because the motorcycle is made for touring, it comes with aluminium cases and a subframe. There are also heated grips that will come in handy while riding a motorcycle during the winter season.

Ducati DesertX Discovery: Specs

Powering the DesertX Discovery is the same 937 cc Testastretta engine that puts out 108 bhp of max power at 9,250 rpm and a peak torque output of 92 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift which is essentially an up-and-down quickshifter and a slipper clutch. The intervals for service have been set to 15,000 km or 24 months whichever is earlier.
