Ather 450X electric scooter to be launched with improved features

NEW DELHI : Days after Bajaj dominated headlines by launching the iconic Chetak with an electric heart, smart features and a bold new look, Ather is looking at making the most of the current buzz surrounding electric scooters in India. The company will launch Ather 450X on Tuesday (January 28) and promises to equip it with improved features and upgraded specifications.

The Ather 450X is an upgrade of the existing Ather 450 which makes use of a 2.4 kW lithium-ion battery and has peak power figure of 5.4 kW and peak torque figure of 20.5 Nm. Ather 450 goes from stationery to 40 kmph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 80 kmph. These figures are likely to be improved upon by Ather 450X which could also see a number of feature additions over the existing satellite navigation system, remote diagnostics and a range between 55 kms and 75 kms.

While the Ather 450 is available in only white colour option, the company has hinted that the 450X could get multiple colour options as well. There could also be an upgrade to the charging system with the existing 450.

Pre-launch bookings for Ather 450X is already open and the scooter could mount a big challenge to Bajaj Chetak and other rivals once launched. While Ather 450 is priced at ₹1.13 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi), expect Ather 450X to be possibly priced at around ₹1.25 lakh mark.
