Decathlon adds three Made-in-India Rockrider mountain bikes to its range

Decathlon has added three new mountain bikes to its Rockrider Explore Series in India. The new models are the EXPL 10, EXPL 20 and EXPL 140, covering the entry-level and leisure segments as well as more capable off-road riding.

EXPL 10 and EXPL 20

The EXPL 10 is the simplest model of the three and is meant for beginners and leisure riders. It uses an aluminium frame that weighs around 2.25kg, along with 660mm-wide handlebars and all-weather tyres. Buyers can choose between High Frame and Low Frame versions.

The EXPL 20 is also aimed at recreational riders, but places more emphasis on comfort. It gets a steel frame with internally routed cables, a wider saddle, comfort grips and 660mm-wide handlebars. Mechanical disc brakes are standard, while some of its components have been tested to ISO standards.

EXPL 140

The EXPL 140 is the more capable bike in the new range and is Decathlon's first 29-inch Made-in-India Rockrider. It has an aluminium frame, 100mm hydraulic suspension and a 10-speed Shimano CUES drivetrain. Trigger shifters and disc brakes are also part of the package. The bike is intended for riders taking on more challenging off-road trails.

Made for Indian riding conditions

Decathlon says the bikes have been developed after studying Indian riders, including their body proportions, riding habits and the terrain they typically encounter. The company has used this research to determine aspects such as frame geometry, handlebar width and saddle ergonomics.

The launch also adds to Decathlon's local bicycle manufacturing portfolio. The company began exporting bicycle components from India 26 years ago and started selling products through its Indian retail operations in 2011. According to Decathlon, more than 97 percent of the bicycles it sells in India are Made in India.
