V-Class Elite: What’s special about Mercedes’ MPV worth ₹1.10 crore

Whoever said that a people mover cannot be a luxury on four wheels clearly never sat inside the Mercedes V-Class. The German auto giant recently launched the top variant in this category, the V-Class Elite, with a price tag of ₹1.10 crore. And while that is quite a hefty price tag for a car in this segment, the V-Class Elite does offer quite a lot to make a strong case for itself.

The V-Class Elite gets a number of design updates and now sports a stronger front grille, upgraded headlamps and chrome insets. There are also new alloys in the offing. The V-Class Elite also comes with three new hues - Steel Blue, Selenite Grey, and Graphite Grey.

On the inside, the MPV is packed with opulence that promise to cocoon occupants. The V-Class Elite will come only in the long-wheelbase 6-seater option, gets massage seats, climate control, an optional panoramic sunroof, a refrigerated section under the centre console, ambient lighting, electric sliding doors and 640 W Burmester surround sound system with 15 speakers.

The biggest update though may well be the new 2.0-litre diesel engine which is capable of putting out 161bhp of power and has peak torque figures of 380Nm. There are no surprises in the transmission unit with Mercedes opting for the 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox. The MPV moves from stationary to 100 kmph in 11 seconds.

With the V-Class Elite, Mercedes may be targeting an extremely niche segment of buyers but the launch remains in tune with the Germans’ intent on adding and updating their product portfolio in the country.
