<p>Aprilia pulled the wraps off the new RS 457 earlier this year and the enthusiasts have been waiting with bated breath to get their hands on the made-in-India twin-cylinder sports bike. Now, a new teaser from the Italian manufacturer on social media suggests that the Aprilia RS 457 will be launched at the upcoming 2023 India Bike Week (IBW), keeping up with the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the motorcycle festival.</p>

<p>Aprilia India is likely to announce prices for the new RS 457 at IBW 2023, while deliveries will commence early next year. The sportbike made its <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto/two-wheelers/ktm-rc390-rival-aprilia-rs-457-to-soon-launch-in-india-5-things-to-know-41695267044498.html">India debut in September this year</a> ahead of the maiden round of the MotoGP Indian Grand Prix and was unveiled by Aprilia factory rider Maverick Vinales. With the specifications already out, all that’s left to know now is the price of the motorcycle. <p>The Aprilia RS 457 is made in India at the parent company Piaggio’s Baramati plant in Maharashtra. The bike has been designed and developed in Italy, while local production should give it a significant cost advantage, much like the Royal Enfield 650 twins. Expect prices to start just under the  <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>4 lakh mark (ex-showroom) on the new RS 457 with the bike being<a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto/two-wheelers/aprilia-rs-457-to-be-sold-at-premium-motoplex-dealerships-to-expand-outlets-41695285446231.html"> sold exclusively through the premium Motoplex dealerships</a>.</p>

<p>The Aprilia RS 457 will draw power from a 457 cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin engine that develops 47 bhp and a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is underpinned by a twin-spar aluminium frame with USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking performance comes from disc brakes at either end. The full-faired offering will come with a host of electronic aids including dual-channel ABS, traction control and a quickshifter. It will also get a 5-inch TFT screen and multiple riding modes.</p>

<p>The Aprilia RS 457 borrows styling heavily from the larger <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/aprilia/rs660" data-name="RS 660">RS 660</a> in the brand’s lineup. The sportbike looks fast with sharp body panels complete with a split headlamp, split seats, and a high rail section. The riding posture is also aggressive with clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs. The upcoming RS 457 will face heat from the upcoming Yamaha R3 that’s scheduled for launch on December 15, 2023. <p>Honda Global has confirmed plans to launch an electric motorcycle equivalent to 110-125 cc commuters in India next year. The announcement was a part of <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/honda">Honda</a> Motor Co’s new motorcycle electrification strategy, which will see the manufacturer invest $3.4 billion by 2030 on new products and development. The two-wheeler giant also revised its global sales target from 3.5 million to 4 million electric motorcycles by 2030.</p>

<p>The electric motorcycle will come with swappable batteries and will be built in India at the company’s existing manufacturing facility. It will be launched in India first, followed by other ASEAN markets, Japan and Europe. Honda announced electrification plans for India earlier this year promising two electric offerings equivalent to 110-125 cc offerings. While one e-scooter will get a fixed battery, the other model will come with swappable batteries.</p>

<p>Speaking during the presentation, Daiki Mihara, Executive Officer - Honda Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Development Unit - Honda Motor Co., said, “Next year 2024, we will launch an electric motorcycle with swappable batteries starting in India and followed by ASEAN, Japan and Europe.”</p>

<p>Honda’s India operations will play a key role in the company’s motorcycle electrification strategy going forward. The company will use its existing facilities to build electric motorcycles from now till 2027 and plans to launch a dedicated plant beyond 2027 for electric motorcycles that will also manufacture important parts in-house to reduce cost. The new plants will have a production capacity of about one million units per year, per plant with an investment of 50 billion yen (approx.  <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>2,800 crore) for each new facility.</p>

<p>Mihara further said that the two-wheeler maker will have a dedicated electric motorcycle plant in India, which will be followed up with another e-motorcycle manufacturing facility in the ASEAN region. Honda aims to reduce the cost of finished electric motorcycles by 50 per cent through optimising batteries, adopting modular platforms, and optimising production and procurement. The new assembly lines for electric motorcycles will be 40 per cent shorter when compared to ICE vehicles.</p>

<p>Furthermore, it plans to make major adjustments to its supply chains in order to achieve its goal of selling four million e-motorcycles by 2030 while achieving a 10 per cent operating profit margin. Honda also plans to repurpose its Kumamoto plant in Japan to produce <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto/electric-vehicles/honda-working-on-electric-motorcycles-to-compete-in-the-500-750-cc-segment-41682758503693.html">larger-capacity electric motorcycles equivalent to 600-700 cc offerings</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Honda’s future strategy includes bringing 30 new electric motorcycles globally by the end of this decade. The upcoming offerings will pack new technologies including advanced connectivity, OTA updates, and modern data collection systems. The company is also working on improving battery technology and will use LFP battery cells going forward, alongside NMC lithium-ion batteries presently seen on its electric offerings.</p>

While details are scarce about the new e-scooter, the company promises to announce a new brand identity with the upcoming model, making it all that special. Gogoro Crossover</h2><p>Taiwanese electric mobility company Gogoro is all set to bring its first electric offering to the Indian market <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto/electric-vehicles/gogoro-crossover-rugged-electric-scooter-to-be-launched-in-india-on-december-12-41701275744044.html">in the form of the Crossover e-scooter</a>. Making its debut earlier this year, the Gogoro Crossover is a rugged little offering that packs several off-road friendly components that aid in tackling rough terrain easily. Gogoro has not confirmed if it will be making any changes to the e-scooter for the Indian market but we do know that the model will be made in India and is being targeted at B2B users, due to its versatility.</p>

Honda announces voluntary recall for H’ness CB350 and CB350RS. Check details

<p>Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India today announced a voluntary recall for H’ness CB350 and CB350RS. The customers are required to take their motorcycles to the BigWing dealerships from the second week of December 2023. The faulty parts will be replaced free of cost, irrespective of the warranty status of the vehicle.</p>

<p>The first issue is that the rear stop light switches that were manufactured between October 2020 and January 2023 are affected. It has been identified that due to an improper process being followed to manufacture the rubber parts of the rear stop light switch, there are chances of crack development on the rubber. This might cause water entry and corrosion inside the switch, leading the light to malfunction.</p>

<p>Then there is the bank angle sensor. Due to an inappropriate molding procedure of sensor housing, it was observed that a gap might occur in sensor body sealing which may cause water entry inside the bank angle sensor. This leads to chances of possible sensor malfunction and vehicle stalling. Units manufactured between October 2020 and December 2021 are affected.</p>

<p>The manufacturer also recently added a third 350 cc motorcycle to its lineup. It is simply called the CB350 and it comes with more of a retro design when compared to the H’ness CB350 and <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/honda/cb350rs" data-name="CB350RS">CB350RS</a>. It is priced at  <span class='webrupee'>₹</span> <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>1,99,900 and  <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>2,17,800 for the DLX and DLX Pro variants. Both prices are ex-showroom. So, the new CB350 is the most affordable 350 cc motorcycle in Honda's lineup.</p>

<p>Powering the <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/honda">Honda </a>CB350 is the same 348.36 cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine that gets fuel injection and is BS6 Stage 2 compliant. It puts out 20.78 bhp of max power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 29.4 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox that gets a slip-and-assist clutch.</p>
