Honda on Wednesday announced that it has sold 436 units of Civic in the month of October of 2019. This is a 30% month-on-month rise from the 336 units sold in September of the same year.

The 10th generation Civic was launched in India in March of 2019 and took nine months to corner 53% market share in the executive sedan segment. Honda has sold 4,375 units of the car in the country since the launch.

Honda has stated that Civic is not only helping the Japanese company drive up the numbers but is contributing in a big way to the growth of the executive sedan segment in India. The cumulative sales number of executive sedans in the country between April and October of 2019 stood at 4,763 units and the period saw a growth of 9.5%. "The comeback of the Civic this year has given the much needed boost to the executive sedan segment and its one of the few segments which have grown despite the current market slowdown," said Rajesh Goel, senior vice president and director, sales and marketing at Honda Cars India.

Civic has been a firm favourite among car enthusiasts, many of whom were waiting with bated breadth for the updated car to hit Indian shores. The new Civic is offered with a brand new 1.6-diesel engine option while a 1.8-litre petrol unit is available as well. A number of feature additions on the inside have given the new Civic a competitive edge and includes a seven-inch infotainment unit, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, camera assist and a host of safety features. The design of the new car has also received appreciation.
