V-Class Marco Polo, with bed and kitchenette, launched by Mercedes at Auto Expo

  • While the V-Class was launched late 2019 at 1.10 crore (ex showroom), the Marco Polo edition has been priced at 1.38 crore (ex showroom).

Mercedes-Benz on Thursday showcased a lifestyle camper version of its V-Class MPV - called V-Class Marco Polo, at the Auto Expo 2020 which starts for the general public from February 7 at Greater Noida.

The V-Class Marco Polo seeks to redefine what luxury is and claims to be an opulent home away from home - complete with a fold-away bed. Mercedes says that the V-Class Marco Polo is a 'luxury camper' made for the ruggedness of the outdoors and that it has been packed with a whole host of living space concepts.

The MPV also features a kitchenette and several cabinets inside for moving around in absolute luxury while taking necessary items along. There is a fold-away table too and bench seats as well.

Under the hood is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine which is BS 6 compliant and the MPV generates 161 bhp of power and has peak torque of 380 Nm. It also gets a plethora of comfort, drive and safety features, including a new twin-pod infotainment screen, attention assist, crosswind assist, tyre-pressure monitoring system, etc. There is a 7G-Tronic automatic system for transmission duties.

Speaking at the unveiling, Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO at Mercedes-Benz, said that the car comes to India because of changing needs and dynamics of the audience here. "The V-Class Marco Polo will be a home out of your home. It is for those who live out of a suitcase while film stars and industrialists will also like it," he said. "India, with its beautiful landscapes, offers beautiful and breathtaking scenary. Today, Indians love to travel - and this vehicle will fulfill their dreams by combining luxury with adventure."
