Nexon EV unveiled as Tata Motors takes big step towards clean mobility
The Nexon EV on Thursday made its world premier, cementing Tata Motors' intent on being a strong player in the clean mobility industry. While the pricing structure has not been revealed yet, pre-bookings for Nexon EV will start from Friday at ₹21,000 as booking amount.

While the Nexon EV is similar to the conventional Nexon in terms of dimensions, it gets subtle design changes to give it a distinguished flair. To be made available in an exclusive Electric Teal colour option, the Nexon EV will get blue highlights on the outside as well as on the inside.
Replacing the conventional gear inside the Nexon EV is a dial while the seven-inch infotainment unit will continue to provide AV and NAV options.
At its heart, the Nexon EV gets a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack - with IP67 rating for water - which has peak power figures of 129 hp and torque of 245Nm. Tata claims that the Nexon EV propels from stationery to 100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.

Tata also claims that the Nexon EV will have a range of about 300 kilometers when fully charged and that despite the battery pack being placed under the compact SUV, the floor board has not been pushed up. The ground clearance, however, has marginally gone down from 209 mm to 205 mm.
Using a DC charger, the Nexon EV's battery can be powered from zero to 80% in one hour. A standard 15A AC charger which is available at homes will take up to nine hours to fully charge the car.
Scheduled to launch in India early 2020, Tata Motors would do well do keep a firm grip on pricing. It is being speculated that the car may come at an asking price of around ₹15 lakh.
