NEW DELHI :

Mahindra and Mahindra on Thursday confirmed that the company would be showcasing the electric version of KUV100 at the Auto Expo 2020 to be held in Greater Noida in February. The company also said that the electric version of XUV300 will be made available in the country by 2021.

Speaking at an event to mark 1000 electric vehicles delivered to Lithium Urban Technologies for fleet transportation, Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, said the company is focused on expanding its presence in the shared e-mobility space. "We already have the eVerito and we will be showcasing the eKUV100 at the Auto Expo next month. The car will be launched in the first quarter of the new financial year," he said. "We will also bring in the eXUV300 in 2021."

Goenka said that while the eKUV100 will be oriented for fleet transportation sector, the eXUV300 will be targeted towards personal car buying segment. He explained that since the eXUV300 will have a longer range, it will also come at a high price point. "OEMs need to reduce prices (of e-vehicles)," he said. "Our focus currently is on the shared space because higher range vehicles make them an expensive proposition."

Goenka also said that there are 22,000 Mahindra e-vehicles on Indian roads - spanning three and four wheelers. He highlighted that with manufacturers like Tata, MG and Hyundai entering the electric space, clean mobility has been given an impetus but urged more OEMs to join and look for ways to keep prices down so that the technology can reach more and more people.
