New-generation Audi Q3 set for India debut tomorrow

Audi is gearing up to introduce the new-generation iteration of the Q3 in India on August 25. The compact luxury SUV is expected to go on sale during the upcoming festive season. Ahead of its debut, the German luxury carmaker has already released the teaser of the new-generation Audi Q3, which has already made its entry in the international market. Upon launch, the new-generation Audi Q3 will challenge the newly launched BMW X1 LWB and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The new Audi Q3 comes with a completely redesigned exterior, a more tech-focused cabin and several new features compared to the outgoing version of the SUV. In comparison to the outgoing model, the new-generation Audi Q3 gets a more distinctive exterior. It gets a larger single-frame grille, flanked by sharper headlamps and a more sculpted bonnet. At the rear, the new Q3 features a full-width lighting element, digital OLED taillights and illuminated Audi rings on higher-spec versions. The Matrix LED headlamps are also more advanced, with micro-LED modules. Each daytime running light now uses 23 individual segments, allowing Audi to create different lighting signatures.

Inside the cabin, the new Audi Q3 has received a repositioned gear selector. The shifter is now mounted on the steering column, instead of being placed on the centre console. This clever design strategy has freed up additional space between front seats for storage. The dashboard design has been revamped according to Audi's latest global models. It also gets acoustic front glass to reduce road and wind noise, along with an updated digital interface.

Besides the layout change, the new Audi Q3 received several technology and safety upgrades. It gets an interior camera that can monitor the driver for signs of fatigue or distraction. Also, adaptive cruise control and lane assistance systems have been upgraded. The new Q3's parking system can remember complex parking manoeuvres and repeat them later. There is a reverse assist function that can also retrace the vehicle's recent path.

Speaking of the powertrain, the India-spec Q3 is expected to retain the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which can produce around 204 bhp power and 320 Nm torque. It could come mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Power will be sent to all the wheels through Audi's Quattro AWD system.
