Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid unveiled, is world's first Strong Hybrid motorcycle

Kawasaki has officially unveiled the Ninja 7 HEV in the global market. As of now, the manufacturer has not announced whether the new motorcycle will be making its way to the Indian market or not. The new motorcycle will go on sale in the UK from April 2024. Kawasaki says the Ninja 7 HEV is the world’s first Strong Hybrid motorcycle mass-produced.
Powering the Ninja 7 HEV is an all-new 451 cc parallel-twin engine that is water-cooled. There is also a 48 V lithium-ion battery pack that powers a 9 kW traction motor. The combined power output stands at 60 bhp and it is increased to 69 bhp in the e-boost function. Out of 60 bhp, 48 are produced from the engine and 12 are produced from the electric motor.

The manufacturer says that the Ninja 7 HEV should be able to deliver a performance of a 650 cc to 700 cc class while having an acceleration of a 1,000 cc supersport model. Apart from this, the fuel efficiency should be on par with the 250 cc motorcycle. There are three riding modes on offer - Sport, Eco and EV.

There is a TFT dashboard for the rider that is Bluetooth enabled Rideology application has been modified for the motorcycle. Other features on offer are walk mode which offers low-speed forward and reverse function, making manoeuvring around the parking lots easier. There is also an idle start-stop functionality which shuts off the engine when the bike comes to a halt. This helps in boosting the fuel efficiency figure.
Braking duties are done by twin disc brakes in the front and a single disc at the rear. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear. There is an Automatic Launch Position Finder that automatically selects the first gear at a standstill which makes the bike ready to go.
