ZS EV from MG Motor will connect to WiFi network, understand 100 voice commands
Days before the December 5 launch of its much-awaited ZS EV, MG Motor on Monday gave a glimpse into all the tech capabilities of its electric offering. Highlighting these capabilities is an advanced i-SMART EV 2.0’s hardware unit which is capable of connecting to home or office WiFi networks, a segment first.
MG Motor had underlined the internet-accessing abilities of the Hector SUV when it was launched earlier this year. Promising to take it a step further, the company stated that its i-SMART EV 2.0 unit inside the ZS EV will come embedded Machine to Machine (M2M) eSIM developed with Unlimit and based on Cisco’s Jasper platform, with Airtel as the telecom partner.

Additionally, the system comes embedded with maps and navigation solutions from TomTom which would be an additional help when looking for the nearest charging station.
The i-SMART EV 2.0 unit will also understand about 100 voice commands to control various features and functions of the vehicle, like 'Open the Sunroof' and 'Find me the nearest charging station.' The entire system will get over-the-air updates which eliminates the need for ZS EV owners to visit service centers for the required updates.
Promising to take entertainment to a new level, the over-the-air updates will also come with a premium Gaana account and will have the AccuWeather app. There would also be a number of other entertainment content which would be refreshed periodically by the company.
Among some of the other stellar in-car tech available is a mobile app for each owner which would perform various functions like vehicle scanning to check pre-defined parameters, battery level and vehicle range, find my car feature, vehicle alert etc.
Powering the ZS EV would be a 45.2 kWh battery can give the SUV a stated range of 428 kms. The all-electric motor is capable of generating 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque.
In India, the car will face off against Hyundai Kona and the price point at which launched could be a crucial factor. While the Kona comes for around ₹23 lakh (ex showroom), an official MG Motor Support handle on Twitter earlier Monday, stated that the ZS EV would be priced at approximately ₹25 lakh.
