Morris Garages is all set to launch their first electric offering in the country. The ZS EV will be unveiled in India on December 5 before its official launch at the Auto Expo 2020.

There has been a fair degree of buzz surrounding electric vehicles in India and recent times have seen many turning attention towards MG. After a solid start to its innings in the country courtesy Hector, MG appears ready to set the tempo in the rather nascent EV segment in the country. The ZS EV could be a massive shot in the arm and will go up directly against Hyundai Kona which was launched by the Korean auto giant earlier in 2019.

The ZS EV’s all-electric motor is capable of generating 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The 45.2 kWh battery can give the SUV a stated range of 428 kms while support for fast charging would ensure that it can go from zero to 80% charge in about half hour.

While the infrastructure for electric vehicles in the country remains largely missing, MG has been working in recent times to set up charging points in the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad and Bengaluru. It is expected that the ZS EV could initially be launched only here before widening the network. The electric variant would be followed by petrol and hybrid versions.
