Ather launches 450X electric scooter, to face off against Bajaj Chetak electric
Ather Energy on Tuesday launched the Ather 450X in two interchangeable performance packs - Plus and Pro, in India at a starting price of ₹99,000 (ex showroom) if the monthly subscription plans are chosen. The price starts at ₹1.49 lakh (ex showroom) minus the monthly subscription fees.

The 450X, which is an upgrade on the existing 450 from the company, will lock horns with a number of e-scooters including the recently launched Bajaj Chetak electric and TVS' iQube.
The 450X gets three colour options unlike the white-only 450 and also gets a completely new battery pack which is now 2.9 KwH which ensures a certified range of 116 kilometers and an on-road range of 86 kilometers on a full charge. Significantly, there is an infinite time warranty on the battery for the entire life cycle of the scooter and Ather claims that the performance of the 450X will remain the same regardless of its age.

Peak power of 450X has gone up to 6 Kw from 5 Kw on 450 while peak torque figure stands at 26 Nm on the new scooter which now weighs 108 kilos. As for the performance packs mentioned above, the company explains that Plus and Pro would be like Netflix subscription which can be selected and then changed at will.

Ather is also offering 450X without monthly subscription packs which takes the pricing up to ₹1.49 lakh (ex showroom).

The 450X gets one more drive mode than the 450. So, while there is the Eco, Normal and Sports, there is also a Warp Mode which, Ather claims, makes the 450X quicker. The company claims the scooter goes from zero to 40 kmph in 3.29 seconds and from zero to 60 kmph in 6.50 seconds.
Ather has equipped 450X with regenerative braking, fast charging, Android open source OS, inbuilt bluetooth which enables music playback, track and take calls, tyre pressure sensor, 4G sim card. It also gets all the features already available on the 450 like auto turn-off indicators, OTA updates, ride statistics, remote monitoring, navigation etc.
Ather claims that its customers have together done 60 lakh kilometers on Indian roads and their feedback was given importance when developing the 450X.
