The Q8 crossover SUV from Audi was launched in India on Wednesday and it could not have expected a better debut here. India cricket captain Virat Kohli, who was also present at the launch event, became the first in the country to own the ultra luxury Audi Q8 which is also the range-topping car from the Germany luxury brand in India.
Kohli, who already boasts of a number of luxury as well as supercars like the Q7, Audi RS5, Audi RS6, A8 L, R8 V10 LMX, Bentley Continental GT and Range Rover Vogue, will now get to drive the all-new Q8 which is powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine, capable of putting out 340 hp of power and has peak torque figures of 500 Nm.
The Audi Q8 gets a singleframe grille in an octagonal design while the LED head lights - standard HD Matrix LED technology - flow into the upper fender. The air fenders are pronounced which adds to the character of the car.
A made-to-order car, the Q8 is priced at ₹1.33 crore (ex showroom) and has a plethora of customization options. Kohli too has suggested a number of customizations to his Q8 but the details of these are not known. Instead, Kohli was asked at the launch event where and with whom he would like to go for a spin in the Q8. "If we get the time then obviously Anushka (Sharma) and the Sea Link in Mumbai would be great," he had said.
