After an unplugged electric Mercedes-Benz sedan caught fire in an underground parking lot of an apartment complex in South Korea, more than 700 people were evacuated and around 140 cars were damaged in the blaze. (Representational image)
The CCTV footage has captured that the Mercedes-Benz EQE was parked and had white smoke, likely from its floor-mounted battery.

The 2025 Mercedes EQS comes with several design changes on the outside. The most prominent changes can be seen on the front face of the electric sedan. The EQS facelift gets a more conventional Mercedes look with a black-grille and horizontal chrome inserts. The iconic logo, which earlier appeared on the closed grille, has now been repositioned on the bonnet like the older models from the carmaker.
Initially, the EQ series showcased radical designs to familiarize customers with EVs. However, as EV adoption grows, the need for distinct styling lessens.
A total of 15 luxury SUVs were launched in India in 2023 by different brands, including six pure electric models.
From mass-market to luxury, the year 2023 witnessed launch of several electric cars across price-segments, with SUVs dominating the chart.
The Mercedes EQE is the costliest all-electric SUV that one can buy in India at present.
Mercedes Benz has launched its third electric vehicle - the EQE - in India at <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>1.39 crore. It will rival the likes of Jaguar i-Pace and BMW iX electric SUVs.
