<a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-cars/tata/">Tata Motors </a>is currently preparing to launch the Altroz Racer in the Indian market. However, it seems like the homegrown manufacturer is also working on updating the Altroz which is a premium hatchback that goes against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza. For 2024, Tata Motors will not update the Altroz significantly but instead, it is expected to get some feature additions and improvements.

There is a possibility that Tata Motors will add a few features from the new <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-cars/tata/nexon" data-name="Nexon">Nexon</a> to the Altroz. So, there could be a new TFT screen for the instrument cluster which measures 26.03 cm. As of now, the premium hatchback comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster that has an analogue speedometer and a screen for the rest of the information.

There could also be a new touchscreen infotainment system that will be larger than the current unit. For reference, the current unit measures 17.78 cm whereas the Nexon's unit has a size of 26.03 cm. The new infotainment system also packs in more features and more connected technology as well. There would also be wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There would be no changes to the engine of the 2024 Altroz. It would continue to be offered with three engine options. There is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. There is also a CNG powertrain that customers can get.

Tata Motors showcased the <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-cars/tata/altroz" data-name="Altroz">Altroz</a> Racer at the Auto Expo 2023 which is expected to launch soon in the Indian market. Toyota Motor Corp. is moving ahead with plans to manufacture and sell more electric vehicles in the US by investing $1.4 billion at a plant in Indiana, the Japanese carmaker’s second such announcement this year.

The Princeton, Indiana, facility — which currently makes four gas and hybrid models — will add an unnamed all-electric, three-row SUV to its line-up, the company said Thursday in a statement. It follows Toyota’s disclosure in February of plans to spend $1.3 billion at a factory in Kentucky to make a separate three-row, fully electric SUV.

Both vehicles will use lithium-ion batteries supplied by a new plant being built by the automaker in North Carolina that is expected to start production in 2025.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is Toyota's answer to the crowded compact SUV segment,
where it is priced between Rs 11.14 lakh ex-showroom, India and Rs 20.19 lakh. The
compact SUV from Toyota is offered with three powertrain options across 13 variants.
 
The 1.5-liter engine with THS (Toyota Hybrid System) and e-drive transmission powers
the self-charging hybrid Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. This version produces 113 bhp
total output, with the engine generating 91 bhp and 122Nm of torque, and the motor
producing 79 bhp and 141Nm of torque. According to the manufacturer, this setup
enables the SUV to operate in electric (EV) or zero-emission mode for 40 per cent of
the trip and 60 per cent of the time.
 
Meanwhile, the 1.5L K-series engine for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder's petrol variations
comes from alliance partner Suzuki and features Neo Drive (ISG). It is mated to either a
6-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission and pffers 135 Nm
of torque and 100 bhp. With the same engine, the SUV's CNG version achieves an
average mileage of 26.6 km/kg.
 
The SUV's exterior highlights include a wide trapezoidal lower grille, a unique crystal
acrylic upper grille with chrome garnish, a turn indicator, LED projector headlamps, twin
LED daytime running lamps, a rear skid plate, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
 
The interior of the Neo Drive model is all black, while the strong hybrid models have an
interior composed of black and brown. The cabin includes a nine-inch smart play cast
audio system with Hello Google and Hey Siri voice assistant, drive mode switch,
wireless charging, leather seats with ventilation, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera
and view, a panoramic sunroof, door spot + IP line, head-up display, tilt and telescopic
steering, and ambient light.
 
It has 60:40 split seating, USB rear connections, rear AC vents, and reclining rear seats
at the rear. Additionally, customers can check off the 66 different accessory options.
 
Along with remote AC control, Smartwatch connectivity, remote vehicle ignition
start/stop, FindMyCar, tracking a stolen vehicle, remote mobilizer, and vehicle health,
the car also has Toyota i-Connect, which offers 55 connected capabilities.
 
In terms of safety, the car is equipped with six airbags, cruise control, PT/FL front seats,
ABS with electronic braking force, sophisticated body construction, hill-hold control, hill
descent, rear 3-point seatbelts, and all-wheel disc brakes.
 
The car is available in two body styles, seven monotone paintjobs (Cave Black, Sportin

Meanwhile, the redesigned sub-four-meter SUV's interior gets touch controls for the air

111 bhp and offers 260 Nm of torque, while the petrol mill can produce 116 bhp and

Installation of aftermarket LED headlamps has witnessed a massive surge across India over the last few years as the demand for bright white LED lights has ramped up. While several automakers offer white LED headlights in their respective vehicles as factory fitment, many car owners opt for aftermarket installation in case the vehicle comes with conventional yellow lamps. The Transport Department of the Government of Gujarat has reportedly issued a directive stating that the installation of unauthorized white LED headlights in any type of vehicle is now prohibited, claims a report by Desh Gujarat.

The notification reportedly stated that vehicle owners caught with modifications such as white LED light installation will face penalties. The Ahmedabad RTO has reportedly initiated a campaign targeting vehicles with unauthorised lights. In the directive, the Commissionerate of Transport of the Government of Gujarat has highlighted the seriousness of the issue.

The excessively bright white light emitted by the white LED lights and additional lights can pose danger to the traffic coming from the opposite direction as the glare of the white light may blind the drivers coming from the opposite direction. This could as a result lead to a major and fatal mishap. The directive has instructed all the RTOs under the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction to conduct enforcement drives and submit action-taken reports.

The issue with the aftermarket fitment of LED lights is not only confined to urban areas. On national highways as well, the use of white LED headlights poses a major distraction for drivers and other vehicles, resulting in numerous accidents. The Commissioner of Transport has reportedly received multiple complaints about unauthorized white LED lights causing distractions, which prompted it to issue a written directive for stringent enforcement. The report also stated that besides taking legal action against the vehicle owners installing such white LED lights, the authorities will also crack down on auto accessory shops selling and installing unauthorised white LED lights.

Confirmed: 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS400 set for launch on May 3rd

For years, rumours have swirled about a 400cc Pulsar, with enthusiasts speculating and creating renders since the brand introduced the <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsarns200">Pulsar NS200</a> in India. Finally, Bajaj Auto has confirmed the launch of its largest Pulsar yet on May 3. As anticipated, the motorcycle will be named the <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsar-ns400">Pulsar NS400</a>.

Because the manufacturer is using the ‘NS’ moniker in the nameplate, it can be expected that the frame will be shared with the Pulsar NS200. So, expect it to be a Perimeter frame that will be suspended by upside-down forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties will be done by a disc at both ends. It can be expected that the braking and suspension hardware could be shared with the <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsarn250" data-name="Pulsar N250">Pulsar N250</a> and Pulsar NS200.

In terms of features, there would be a dual-channel Anti-lock braking system with three modes for it. There would be Rain, Road and On/Off. There would be new switch gear on offer to control the new instrument cluster which is also expected to be shared with the new Pulsars.

It is an all-new all-digital unit that comes with Bluetooth connectivity through the <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/bajaj" data-name="Bajaj">Bajaj</a> Ride Connect mobile application. The instrument cluster can show notifications, and call management as well. Moreover, there is also a USB port to charge the mobile device. The new cluster can show real-time updates on fuel consumption, average fuel economy, and gear position.

As of now, it is not confirmed which engine Bajaj will use for the upcoming NS400. It could be the 373 cc unit that is doing duty on the <a class="autobacklink-topic" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/bajaj/dominar400" data-name="Dominar 400">Dominar 400</a> and comes from the previous-gen <a class="manualbacklink" target="_blank" href="https://auto.hindustantimes.com/new-bikes/ktm/390duke">390 Duke</a>. Or, the brand will rework the new 399 cc engine that made its debut with the new-gen 390 Duke.
