The BMW CE 02 marks the German manufacturer's foray into the urban electric scooter segment in India. While BMW Motorrad had launched the CE 04 as its first e-scooter in India, the CE 02 is the first one to be produced in the country, in cooperation with partner TVS Motor Company. Targeted primarily at city dwellers seeking a premium, electric two-wheeler with modern functionality and distinctive design, the CE 02 integrates futuristic styling with practical urban commuting capabilities. The scooter features a stripped-down form factor with minimalist bodywork and is designed around its battery and motor assembly, offering a blend of performance and everyday usability for short to mid-range travel.
The BMW CE 02 is available in a single variant priced at ₹4.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
The BMW CE 02 was launched in India on October 1, 2024. The urban commuter is the first electric scooter from the German manufacturer to be produced locally in Hosur, India by cooperation partner TVS Motor Company.
The BMW CE 02 is available in a single variant priced at ₹4.49 lakh, ex-showroom. This model is offered in two colour schemes: Cosmic Black and Cosmic Black 2. Additionally, the CE 02 can be equipped with an optional Highline package that enhances the scooter with cosmetic upgrades and additional ride functionality, though this package influences the final on-road cost.
The CE 02 adopts a minimalistic design with exposed structural elements and minimal use of conventional body panels. The skateboard-style single-piece seat emphasises simplicity and functional aesthetics while maintaining basic rider comfort. The front fascia and lighting arrangement are compact and futuristic, with full LED illumination standard across the model.
The feature list includes a 3.5-inch micro TFT display, USB Type-C charging port, keyless operation, reverse mode, stability control, single-channel ABS, anti-theft alarm, and two standard riding modes named Flow and Surf. The Highline variant adds a third riding mode called Flash, along with heated grips, a tri-coloured seat, smartphone connectivity with holder, and golden anodised front forks. The Highline package also features contrast-colour tapes for visual enhancement.
Powering the CE 02 is an air-cooled synchronous motor with a peak output of 11 kW (approximately 15 bhp) and 55 Nm of torque. This setup allows the scooter to accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 96 kmph. The drivetrain is supported by two lithium-ion batteries, each rated at 1.96 kWh, offering a combined capacity of 3.9 kWh. The system provides adequate torque for city riding while ensuring responsive throttle performance in stop-and-go traffic.
The BMW CE 02 offers a claimed range of 108 km on a full charge, certified by ICAT. Charging can be performed via a standard 0.9 kW charger, which takes approximately 5 hours and 12 minutes to recharge the battery fully. An optional 1.5 kW quick charger, available with the Highline variant, reduces charging time to 3 hours and 30 minutes. The removable battery setup and straightforward charging options add practicality for urban users.
The kerb weight of the CE 02 is 142 kg and the saddle height is 745 mm.
Positioned as a premium electric scooter, the BMW CE 02 currently stands in a niche category with few direct rivals in the Indian market.
