Yamaha brings in BS 6-compliant version of YZF-R15
NEW DELHI : After launching the BS 6-compliant FZ-FI, FZS-FI just last month, Yamaha on Monday brought in the updated YZF-R15 which too would meet the engine norms kicking in from April 1 of 2020.


Announcing that the YZF-R15 would be available at all dealerships in India from the third week of December, Yamaha said that the YZF-R15 will be available in three colours and will start at ₹1.45 lakh (ex showroom), going up to ₹1.47 lakh (ex showroom) for the Darknight version. "With Yamaha continuing to perk up track performances with the R series, the new YZF-R15 Version 3.0 with BS 6 compliant engine and new features will be able to create optimum excitement in India in its respective category," said Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India.
With a weight of 142 kgs, the new BS 6 engine equipped YZF-R15 gets side stand engine cut-off switch, dual horn and radial tubeless tyre at the rear wheel. These have been standardized in all variants of the YZF-R15. The bike has a 155 cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine that produces a power output of 18.6 PS at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 14.1 N.m at 8,500 rpm.
