Despite the gloom in the auto industry in recent months, major companies are continuing to keep hopes high and looking to connect with prospective buyers. Among them is Honda with the Japanese company looking to bolster its presence in the premium bikes segment.

Honda announced recently that a big chunk of its phase 2 plans include expanding Honda BigWing, its premium motorcycle division. There are presently seven models under Honda BigWing and the company says it will take the number to 13. Furthermore, it has been hinted that some of these bikes may be manufactured in the country which could ensure that the prices are competitive.

The focus on the premium bike segment from Honda is hardly surprising as this segment has performed reasonably well in the past. Honda's international experience and capabilities in developing and presenting premium bikes could be a shot in the arm for the company in India.
