Ignis from Maruti Suzuki has been quite a success story since it was first launched in India in 2017. It paved the way for the company to eventually phase out Ritz and positioned the car as a premium offering under its Nexa brand. Now, Maruti Suzuki may be gearing up to drive in the 2020 version of Ignis at the Auto Expo in February - all with the promise of updated looks, features and a BS 6-compliant engine.

The Ignis is the smallest car in the Nexa chain under Maruti Suzuki but a peppy motor and striking looks have earned it quite the fan following. These are the attributes that the company is seeking to enhance in the face lift and the new Ignis is likely to get a front grille that is similar to the one on the Vitara Brezza, a long skid plate which can also be found on the rear profile of the car.

The Ignis is likely to be offered in more colour options while Maruti Suzuki is also expected to provide even more customisable options - a unique proposition from the company.

Significantly, a BS 6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol motor is almost certain inside the Ignis which could bump up efficiency of the car while also reducing emissions.

The current Ignis is available with a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT option, and both are likely to make way into the 2020 version as well.
