Mercedes-Benz brings its electric might to India, launches EQ brand
The sure and steady pace of electric mobility in India received a major push on Tuesday with Mercedes-Benz launching its product and technology brand 'EQ' in the country.
Mercedes is pegging the EQ - which stands for electric intelligence, as the pillar on which its future electric cars would be based on. Targeting what it calls as sustainable luxury in India, the company stated that the launch of EQ brand showcases the company's strategic initiative in the domain of EV to establish luxury electric motoring in India. "As the inventors of the automobile and pioneers of luxury mobility in India, we are launching the brand ‘EQ’ that will establish luxury electric motoring in India," said Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO, Mercedes Benz India. "The ‘EQ’ brand is a key pillar of our ‘Sustainable Luxury’ objective and is the first dedicated luxury electric brand in India. We felt the time was right to introduce EQ brand in India and our first product for India will be the EQC EV."

The EQC will be brought in in April of 2020 and Mercedes says it will only be the first of many electric offerings as it pushes itself as a key player in the field of clean mobility.
Mercedes-Benz India will have a host of initiatives that aims at expanding the market.
