Michelin on Monday introduced its Energy XM2+ tyres which promise to enhance performance and safety quotients on the road.

Michelin, in a statement, said that the Energy XM2+ tyres would be an ideal option for small and mid-size passenger cars and offer more performance and safety vis a vis the outgoing generation of Energy XM2 tyres through its entire life cycle. "Michelin Energy XM2+ improves on its predecessor, the MICHELIN Energy XM2, a leading mass-market tyre for 8 consecutive years. We are committed to bringing tyres to our customers that stay safe and offer high performance levels to their legal wear limit," said Mohan Kumar, Vice President, Michelin India.

How the Energy XM2+ tyres seek to stand out is by making use of new full-silica rubber compound which, the company claims, helps it stop 2.4 meters shorter on wet roads in new condition and 3.3 meters in worn condition compared to a premium competitor tyre. Michelin also says that the Energy XM2+ tyres would last 29% longer due to its 'new rubber formulation with strong link of filler-filler molecular bond minimizes wear rate.'

The Energy XM2+ tyres come with a price tag of 5090 at Michelin authorised dealers across the country and will be available in 30 sizes by early 2020 - from 12 to 16 inch (30.48 – 40.64 cm) diameter.
