Triumph Motorcycles India to launch Trident 660 tomorrow: What to expect

Triumph Motorcycles is geared up to launch the all-new Trident 660 middleweight naked streetfighter bike in the country on Tuesday (April 6th). The bike was originally unveiled in October 2020. It is going to be a very important product for the UK-based premium bike maker as it will be placed as one of the most affordable bikes in the company's portfolio. Here's what to expect from Triumph's upcoming offering:
All-new product:
The new Trident 660 is an all-new motorcycle that doesn't share any technical bits with the company's present bikes. It features an all-new chassis setup that is designed specifically for the Trident and is claimed to be engineered to deliver comfortable ergonomics as well as a sporty ride.
New engine:
It draws power from a new 660 cc in-line triple-cylinder, liquid-cooled powertrain. This engine has been tuned to deliver 81 PS maximum power at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm peak torque at 6,250 rpm. The company says that this powertrain churns out 90% of the torque throughout the rev range. The engine features a slip and assist clutch and gets a 6-speed transmission unit.
Heavy on features:
The new Trident sports an all-new multi-functional colour TFT display. It also gets "My Triumph" Connectivity System which will be offered as an accessory fit. Some of the key rider aids on the Trident include Road and Rain riding modes, Switchable traction control (integrated into the riding modes), and Ride by wire throttle. Needless to say, ABS is also part of the kit.
Rivals:
When launched, it will be a direct rival to the likes of the Kawasaki Z650, Suzuki GSX-S750 and the recently launched Honda CB650R in the Indian market.

Triumph Motorcycles has told HT Auto in the past that it will place Trident 660 as one of the most affordable bikes in its portfolio. Its pricing will be comparable to the current entry-level Triumph bike - Bonneville Street Twin. Thus expect it to be priced in the range of ₹7 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
