BMW announces two world premieres for Milan Motorcycle Show

The German brand will be pulling out all the stops at the Milan Motorcycle Show, or EICMA, as 2013 marks the 90th anniversary of its motorcycle division. BMW will unveil the R nineT roadster and R 1200 GS Adventure 2014 for the first time at the show, in addition to showing off the C Evolution, its new electric scooter.
BMW developed the R nineT as a tribute to the R 32, the manufacturer's very first motorcycle, launched in 1923. The naked roadster is based primarily on the R 1200R, without fairings, but with twin titanium exhaust pipes. With a riderless weight of just 222kg, the R nineT features a 1,170cm3 twin box engine with 110hp, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and top speeds of over 200km/h. The bike will arrive at European dealers in Q1 2014, priced at €15,000. US availability has yet to be announced.

The BMW R GS1200 Adventure, meanwhile, is the latest edition of BMW's long-distance tourer. Featuring a 125hp engine and a 30L fuel tank, the model has enhanced stability compared to its predecessor thanks to standard ABS and Automatic Stability Control. Drivers can choose between two modes (Rain or Road), or add three extras with the Pro option (Dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro). For the time being, no official prices for the R 1200 GS Adventure 2014 have been announced.
Visitors to BMW's stand at EICMA will also catch a look at the brand's electric scooter, the C Evolution, slated for release during 2014. BMW is announcing a 100km range on one charge, and a charging time of 4 hours using a standard power outlet. In terms of performance, the C Evolution can accelerate from 0 to 50km/h in 2 seconds and reach a top speed of 120km/h. Drivers can access all of the essential information related to the bike through a color TFT screen.
The 71st International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA) is open November 7-10, 2013.
