Auto Expo 2020: Top-10 cars unveiled on Day 1 of India's mega motor show

Auto Expo 2020 got off to a rousing start on Wednesday with several OEMs putting their best foot forward to woo the media contingent ahead of public days which begin from Friday (February 7).

Maruti Suzuki Concept Futuro-e
The Futuro-e is an ambitious project for Maruti-Suzuki India, which the company says, will work as a design study for the next generation mobility solutions. It also seeks to show the vision that the company has for a cleaner, greener India and the world in the times to come. (Read more here)
Kia Carnival MPV
The much-awaited Carnival MPV from Kia was officially launched at a starting price of ₹24.95 lakh (ex showroom). To be manufactured at Kia's facility in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur, the Carnival is a VIP MPV that offers a mile-long list of tech and comfort features. It will take on Toyota Innova Crysta in India. Mercedes AMG GT 63S

The fastest production four-seater AMG is a credible standalone description for the GT 63S brought to Indian shores by Mercedes-Benz. Priced at a whooping ₹2.42 crore ( ex showroom), the car boasts of capabilities that dazzles automotive enthusiasts. At its core is a 4.0 litre twin-turbo petrol V8 motor that has peak power figure of 638 bhp and peak torque of a mammoth 900 Nm. The AMG GT 63S goes from zero to 100 kmph in a blistering 3.2 seconds. Tata Gravitas
For all practical purposes, the Gravitas is a seven-seater version of Harrier SUV. The imposing car, therefore, is 63 mm longer and also taller than its younger sibling. With a BS 6-compliant 2.0 litre diesel engine at its heart, the Gravitas has 170 bhp of peak power and peak torque of 350 Nm. Tata Motors is planning to launch the car later this year or early 2021.
Hyundai Tucson
Looking to underline that it still believes in the viability of the premium SUV segment in India, Hyundai unveiled the new-generation Tucson SUV. The car gets updated styling elements on the outside, a brand-new, all-black cabin inside and gets a 2.0-litre BS 6-compliant petrol motor. (Read more here)
Mahindra eKUV100
The most affordable electric vehicle in India has finally been launched by Mahindra and Mahindra. The eKUV100 features a 40KW battery pack which gives it 53 bhp of peak power and peak torque of 120 Nm. It has a claimed range of 120 kilometers on a full charge and offers two charge inlets - one for regular charge and the other for fast charge. (Read more here)
Volkswagen T-Roc
Volkswagen's India 2.0 project especially underlines SUVs and the T-Roc forms the core of the company's plans here. Here, the car which is already sold in several global markets, gets a 1.5 TSI petrol engine and a seven-speed DSG transmission. It also boasts of a number of high-end features on the inside, including an eight-inch infotainment screen, automatic climate control etc.
MG Marvel X
If there is one car that defines all that MG Motor is capable of, it is the Marvel X. Sold the world over as Roewe Marvel X, the car was showcased in India. It has a futuristic visual appeal, gets a 52.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack and has as many as three electric motors. It is also the world's first mass-produced Level 3 autonomous vehicle. Speaking to HT Auto, MG Motors' Gaurav Gupta said that while he cannot give a launch date for Marvel X, it is a car that is surely on the cards here in the times to come. (See more pics here)
Skoda Vision IN
Based on the company's new MQB-A0-IN platform, Vision IN is Skoda's show of intent. A large front grille with LED illumination and featuring double slats made of lead crystal, LED head lights, strong character lines on the side body, diamond-cut alloys and a whole lot more make the compact SUV quite a looker. On the inside, the SUV gets a 12.3-inch central display, Virtual Cockpit, seats made of rhubarb leather and orange oak leather and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Skoda says that Vision IN has been been especially designed keeping the Indian market in mind. (See more pics here)
Concept H
Great Wall Motors made its India debut at Auto Expo 2020. Promising a phased investment of around $1 billion here, the Chinese company also organised the world premier of Concept H under its sub-brand Haval. A plug-in hybrid, Concept H showcases the capabilities of Haval and Great Wall Motors. It is targeted towards the millennial audience.
