After new Activa, Honda launches BS6-complaint SP 125 motorcycle

Close on the heels of launching the BS6-complaint Activa in India, Honda took the covers off of SP 125 which too comply with the new fuel norms set to come into effect from April of 2020.

SP 125 is the next-gen CB Shine but the Japanese company opted to drop the name.

SP 125 has been made available in two variants - drum and disk. Prices start at ₹72,900 (ex showroom, Delhi) for the drum variant while the disc variant has been priced at ₹77,100 (ex showroom, Delhi). There has been a price jump of at least ₹7,000 over the outgoing CB Shine.

The bump-up in prices has its justification.

The SP 125 has slightly more power with the 124cc engine churning out 10.8PS at 7500rpm. Torque figures too have gone up by a bit - 10.9Nm. The company claims that the SP 125 will have 16% better fuel efficiency.

The motorcycle comes with a segment-first ACG starter which ensures a silent start, full digital instrument cluster with key riding analytics like fuel efficiency, and service reminder.

The SP 125 also looks a whole lot sharper than before with new body panels and a mean-looking fuel tank.

Bookings are already open at dealerships across the country while deliveries are expected to start by the end of November.
