Hyundai Creta 2020 has finally been unveiled in India, at Auto Expo 2020, and comes once again as a formidable player in the SUV segment which now also boasts of Kia Seltos, MG Hector along with Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster.
Creta, known as ix25 in China, was first brought to India back in 2015 and became a massive hit at the time. Stellar looks, good drive performance, a long list of features and a general lack of credible competition in its segment had helped Creta sell in droves. Over the years, however, the car - despite a facelift in 2018, began to look rather jaded.
Jaded, however, is the last word or adjective that comes to mind when looking at Creta 2020. The SUV, unveiled by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, now looks more stylish than ever before and is noticeably longer and wider than the outgoing model. Based on the Seltos platform, Creta 2020 gets new head lights with sleek boomerang LEDs on top. The cascading front grille, seen on several newer Hyundai cars, replaces the three-slat grille on the Creta. The matching tail lights look stunning and there is now a light bar running across the width.

On the inside is where Hyundai have really ramped up things and it makes perfect sense because the new Creta has to compete with rivals offering a plethora of comfort and convenience functionalities, including Hyundai's Blue Link connected car feature.
Under the hood, the Creta gets BS 6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motors. There is an all-new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine on offer as well which could satiate those looking to get maximum performance. These are BS 6-compliant.
The new Creta was unveiled by Hyundai brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan who said he is 'like a father to Hyundai India' because of his long association. "I also own a first-generation Hyundai Creta. I like to drive it, my kids like to be in it. The new Creta, however, is even more robust, even more sexy, just like me," he said.
Hyundai has said that it will officially launch the new Creta in India in March.
