Paris Motor Show: 5 ultra low-carbon vehicles
Between zero-emissions cars (all-electric or fuel cell) and hybrid concepts approaching the symbolic milestone of 100km per liter of fuel, the 2014 Paris Motor Show offers plenty of eco-friendly solutions for the future.
Toyota FCV
Displayed in Paris in its European premiere, the FCV is the Japanese brand's first fuel cell sedan, operating entirely on hydrogen. The model is slated to go on sale this spring in Japan before arriving in Denmark, Germany, the UK and the US later in 2015.

Hyundai Intrado
Unveiled in Geneva last March, the Hyundai Intrado concept is another car that runs on a hydrogen-powered fuel cell battery. The Intrado emits nothing but water and thus, like the Toyota FCV, enables entirely carbon-free motoring. The concept is inspired by aerospace engineering, both in terms of the technologies and the materials used.
Tesla Model S
A key player in the high-end electric vehicle segment, the American manufacturer has brought its famous all-electric sedan to Paris. Though not new, the Tesla Model S is nonetheless a reference in the industry, with its all-electric motor reaching up to 416hp (depending on the version), for 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds, all with zero CO2 emissions.
Renault Eolab
The French manufacturer is presenting a hybrid prototype boasting a low fuel consumption of just 1l/100km, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 22g/km. Based on a B-segment sedan, the concept incorporates several technological breakthroughs and is slated to serve as the basis for a future high-efficiency production vehicle by 2020.
C4 Cactus Airflow
At the Paris Motor Show, Citroën presents the C4 Cactus Airflow 2l, a concept that consumes under 2l/100km. This exceptional efficiency is made possible thanks to the vehicle's optimized design and aerodynamics, reduced weight (down by around 100kg) and reduced tire friction, in addition to the introduction of the Hybrid Air technology, which is said to reduce fuel consumption by around 30 percent.
