On Nissan's stand at the Paris Motor Show (October 4-19), the main event will be the official launch of the Pulsar, the compact five-door sedan unveiled last spring.

After taking on all-electric cars and SUVs, Nissan is turning its attention to the C-segment. In fact, the Pulsar presents many of the same design elements and technologies seen on the latest Qashqai and X-Trail models.

Specifically, the model is equipped with the Nissan safety shield system, which includes moving object detection, lane departure warning and blind spot warning. Automatic emergency forward braking is also on board.

Finally, the four-camera AVM system (Around View Monitor) provides a 360° view around the vehicle on the display of the NissanConnect system, facilitating parking and other tight maneuvers.

Nissan is offering the Pulsar with a range of turbocharged engines, which for now includes the DiG-T fuel engine (115hp) and the dCi diesel engine (110hp). In early 2015, a second fuel engine with 190hp will join the lineup. CO2 emissions are expected to be under 95g/km.

Priced from €18,790 (around $23,700), the Nissan Pulsar enters the extremely competitive segment that includes the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Golf, among other best-sellers.

At the event in Paris, Nissan is expected to unveil a sports car version on the model, the Pulsar Nismo.

The Nissan stand will also feature the Juke Nismo RS crossover, which is due to launch in Europe this December, priced from €27,450 (around $34,700). The X-Trail, revealed one year ago in Frankfurt, should also be on display.
