After reporting a 68 per cent year-on-year jump in motorcycle sales for June, Bajaj Auto is expecting its Discover brand to further dent rival Hero Honda's market share, which fell from 56 per cent to 47 per cent in April-June while Bajaj gained just that much — its share rising to 34 per cent from 25 per cent.
Bajaj Auto sold 2.8 lakh units in June, of which 70 per cent came in from the Pulsar and Discover brands.
'Discover 150cc will push sales and we expect at least 25 per cent of our customers to upgrade to it. Going forward at the current momentum, the Discover portfolio could overtake (Hero Honda's) Splendor soon,' said S Sridhar, CEO, Bajaj Auto.
