The Frankfurt Motor Show will provide the stage for the world premiere of Volkswagen's two new all-electric vehicles: the e-up! and the e-Golf. Volkswagen has announced a range of 160km and 190km for the two cars respectively.

The newly announced e-up!, the all-electric version of Vokswagen's compact city car, will run on a 60kW electric motor (equivalent to 82hp). The German manufacturer is announcing a top speed of 130km/h and 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 12.4 seconds.

Also slated to debut in Frankfurt, the e-Golf aims to rival the current leader of the all-electric market: the Nissan Leaf. The e-Golf is equipped with an 85kW electric motor (115hp) and boasts a top speed of 140km/h (electronically capped) and 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 10.4s.

Volkswagen will provide details on the two models' release dates and pricing at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The German brand's presence at the Motor Show will certainly not go unnoticed, with its 53 vehicles on display. The construction on the 9,000 square meter Volkswagen stand, expected to take 24 days, will use a whopping 150 tons of steel and 90km of cables.

The 65th Frankfurt Motor Show runs September 12 to 22, with press days scheduled for September 10 and 11.
