New Skoda Fabia to be more spacious, more customizable

The Czech manufacturer revealed the first image of its new Fabia, which will be officially unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. More spacious and more customizable than the outgoing version, the new supermini will also be available with more efficient engines.
According to designer Jozef Kaban, who is in charge of the project, this third-generation Fabia is heavily inspired by the VisionC, a concept car presented at the last Geneva Motor Show. In a release from Skoda, he explains that the new supermini is resolutely more expressive, dynamic and sporty than its predecessors.

The Skoda Fabia also introduces a new visual identity for the brand, seen namely through the placement of its grille and headlights. Finally, the brand also promises customers an unprecedented range of customization options, including a choice between 15 different body colors and multiple shades for the roof, wheels and side mirror caps.
On the interior, space is optimized through an elongated and widened cabin. The new Fabia will also be Skoda's first vehicle equipped with MirrorLink, a technology that replicates the interface and features of a smartphone on the car's built-in touch screen.
A total of seven engine configurations, some offering fuel savings of up to 17 percent, will be available with the new range. The four fuel engines and three diesel engines will all come with the Stop & Start system.
The new Skoda Fabia is expected to go on sale this fall just after premiering at the Paris Motor Show.
The Paris Motor Show takes place from October 4 to 19.
