M&M to recall 23,500 Scorpio EX
India's largest utility vehicle maker, Mahindra & Mahindra, on Tuesday said it would recall a specific batch of the entry-level EX variant of Scorpio sports utility vehicle manufactured between May 2012 and November 2013 for inspection. It would replace some components in the vehicle if required, the company said.
The car costs ₹ 8.20 lakh (exshowroom-Delhi).

The company, however, did not specify the number of vehicles affected by the recall or the exact part that requires inspection but dealer sources told HT that 23,519 units are covered under the exercise and the vehicles would be inspected for a faulty fuel pressure regulating valve — it maintains a constant fuel pressure in the engine for optimum performance. A faulty valve does not impair the safety of the vehicle but may result in a loss of performance. The Scorpio EX version is powered by a 2.5litre common rail diesel engine.
"This inspection and necessary part replacement if any, would be carried out with immediate effect and would be done free of cost for Scorpio Ex customers who would be individually contacted," Mahindra said in a statement to the BSE. "The recall does not affect any other Scorpio variants."
Mahindra had recalled a smaller batch of 985 units of the same variant in December last year for an identical problem.
Over 700,000 vehicles have been recalled in India for various problems in last two years.
