M&M in 2-wheeler push


Utility vehicle major Mahindra and Mahindra is gearing up for a bigger play in two-wheelers, riding on the network of its automotive and farm equipment division.
M&M currently sells Pantero and Centuro motorcycles and Kine, Flyte, Duro and Rodeo scooters. It is set to launch an all new 110-cc scooter next month. The Centuro is also getting new variants and the much awaited and re-designed Mojo 300 sports bike will also be launched before March 2015, Pawan Goenka, president, automotive and farm equipment division, said.

M&M entered the segment when it acquired Pune-based Kinetic Motor in 2008.
"We recently launched the Centuro Rockstar, a lower end version of Centuro; at some point of time we will come out with a higher cc product, we will have the new scooter, which will also have 2-3 variants," Goenka said.
M&M's sales in 2013-14 surged 92% to over 202,000 units, with the Centuro accounting for around 70% of it. In comparison, Hero MotoCorp 6.2 million units, and Honda sold 3.7 million.
