The Honda Mean Mower has just been confirmed as the fastest vehicle in its category, entering the Guinness World Records with an average speed of 116mph (187.60km/h) over a distance of 100 meters, beating the previous record holder by 30 mph.

The Mean Mower achieved this feat in a test conducted in Tarragona, Spain by Piers Ward of the BBC show 'Top Gear.' To validate its record, the vehicle was timed running at top speed along the length of a 100-meter track and back again. The average speed from these two time tests was 116mph (187.6km/h).

The Mean Mower was designed and built in 2013 by Dynamics, Honda's partner in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Equipped with a 1000cc motor, the machine boasts 109hp and an estimated top speed of 130mph (209km/h). The manufacturer claims the mower can accelerate from 0 to 60mph (100km/h) in just 4 seconds.

Of course, the model is also a functional mower, with a blade turning at 4000 revs per minute. Unfortunately for those who dream of mowing the entire lawn in a matter of seconds, the blade doesn't function at speeds over 24km/h.
