Ducati presents Monster 821: the Monster 1200's little brother

The new Ducati Monster 821 arrives at dealerships at the end of July, with prices starting at €10,260 in Europe and $10,995 in the US.

Weighing just 179.5kg, the Monster 821 is powered by a water-cooled 821cc Testastretta 11° engine with 112hp. This new medium displacement bike is positioned as a more affordable version of the powerful Monster 1200, which features the same chassis and a similar appearance.

The height of the seat is adjustable, and the motorcycle features several levels of traction control and ABS, which can be selected at the touch of the driving modes button on the handlebars. Ducati has also outfitted the bike with the Ride-by-Wire electronic acceleration system.

Priced from $10,995 in the US, the Monster 821 is available with a red frame and red wheels, or with white satin-finish paint, a red frame and matte red wheels. Alternatively, Ducati also offers the Monster 821 Dark, which has a matte black finish with a black frame and black wheels.

The model is a direct descendent of the Monster 1200, which was presented in Milan in 2013 and is currently available from $13,495 in the US. The 1200 is the most powerful Monster ever, with 135hp for the standard version and 145hp for the S edition. The latter version also has racing-inspired Brembo brakes.
