"The new BMW ActiveHybrid 7 introduces a fundamentally new driving experience in the luxury segment that India has never seen before," said Philipp Von Sahr, president, BMW Group India. "The electric motor and petrol engine of the vehicle work in unison supported by a lithium-ion battery and coordinated hybrid system." The car is a precursor to BMW's first plug in hybrid sportscar i8, to roll-out later this year.

Commenting on the future launches, Sahr said the company would launch the M3 sedan, M4 Coupe and the M5 sedan in 2014. The company also plans to expand dealer network in the country by the year end.
