Bajaj Discover gets fairings, 150-CC Engine

Bajaj Auto on Monday launched a 150cc version of its Discover bike, as it tries to regain momentum in the domestic market, and reiterated that it was focused on being a specialist and profitable global motorcycle maker.

The new Discover will be available in two versions, 150F and 150S, priced at ₹ 51,720-58,739, ex-showroom Pune.

Bajaj has been losing ground in the domestic two-wheeler market, due to increased competition with sales in 2013-14 plummeting 15% to 2.1 million units.

The company has been criticised in the past for not being present in the scooter segment. However, managing director Rajiv Bajaj said that it was the higher profitability that was driving its focus on motorcycles, although he was "not averse" to scooters and stressed on the fact that the company's profitability was much higher than its rivals.

The new Discover is powered by 4-valve 145cc DTSI-i engine that delivers 14.5 PS of power and has a claimed fuel economy of 72kmpl.
