Audi TT coming to Paris in coupe, convertible and sedan versions

The Audi TT will be hard to miss on the German manufacturer's stand at the Paris Motor Show, which opens on October 4. Alongside the latest generation of the coupe, visitors will find the TT Roadster and the new TT Sportback sedan concept.

The new Audi TT has shed 50kg compared to the outgoing model thanks to the use of lighter and more rigid materials, including aluminum for the body and tempered steel for the cabin. Naturally, the reduced weight has an impact on the car's handling and performance, allowing the Audi TT to help close the gap with its main rival, the Porsche Boxster. The coupe is available with three powertrains, which range from 184hp for the diesel option (14hp more than the outgoing version) to 230hp for the fuel engine (+19hp). With a 6-speed S-Tronic transmission, the new Audi TT is said to offer 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 5.3 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.

Presented at the most recent Geneva Motor Show, the new Audi TT is already available for pre-order starting at €39,900. The model will officially go on sale after the Paris Motor Show.

The French capital will also see the world premiere of the Audi TT Roadster, which is also lighter and more powerful than its predecessors. Available in front-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions, the Audi TT Roadster offers between 184hp (diesel) and 310hp (fuel). All of the new models feature Audi's new virtual cockpit, which keeps mechanical instruments to a minimum and brings more advanced digital technology to the dashboard.

Visitors to the Audi stand in Paris will also find the TT Sportback concept, a four-door sedan. Though Audi has yet to officially announce details, the concept is said to be powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo engine packing 400hp.

Innovating with laser lights

The Audi stand will also feature the impressive R8 LMX, which was revealed in a sneak preview at the Le Mans 24 Hours race. The model is the world's first production vehicle equipped with laser lighting technology, which enables better range in high-beam mode. Activated at speeds of over 60km/h, the laser lights give a boost to the LED headlights, enhancing visibility and thus improving safety. A system of sensors and cameras detects the presence of an oncoming car and adjusts the headlights' position to avoid blinding other drivers.

Under its aluminum body, the Audi R8 LMX packs a 5.2-liter V10 engine with up to 570hp. The sports car boasts 0 to 100km/h acceleration in just 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of around 320km/h.

Finally, Audi is also expected to display the restyled A6 as well as the A3 Sportback e-tron, the brand's first plug-in hybrid.
