Force India ups the game with modified Gurkha at Auto Expo 2020

With Indian travelling more and more, and choosing adventurous locations, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and performance cars are becoming popular. But, at Auto Expo 2020, there is a vehicle which has the potential to change the landscape forever.

Behold the Gurkha Customised! The lifted truck is a huge crowd puller at the motor extravaganza. It is adventure ready with a massive bull-bar, heavy duty winch, mud-terrain tyres and an interesting green colour.

Though the spec sheet doesn't give the Gurkha impressive numbers - it has a BS6 2.6-litre diesel engine that makes 90bhp of power and over 200Nm of torque - the significant improvements over its predecessor makes the Gurkha the most sturdy companion if you plan to go off-roading. The sturdiness is the main attraction of the vehicle.

The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The spare wheel, meanwhile, is kept on the roof of the vehicle.

The Gurkha doesn't just have a road presence, the really high riding position will make you feel the king of the road. The deep treads on the tubeless tyres add to its ruggedness and suspension too is lifted. It has disc brakes both at front and at the rear.

The Indian company also unveiled a smaller, but upgraded, Standard Gurkha which is an improvement over its BS4 predecessor. The refreshed exterior puts it in a competition with Mahindra Thar, and increases the vehicle's appeal.

The Standard Gurkha now comes with a round LED DRLs rings and flat bonnet. The boxy profile is accentuated by the 16-inch tubeless alloy wheels.

The Gurkha's stance is upright and is being offered in three trims - Xpedition, Xplore and Xtreme.

The 2020 Gurkha has two rows of forward facing pilot seats and two jump seats at the back. The new BS6 engine generates 90bhp power and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
