Tata Motors wins order of 500 electric vehicles from Lithium Urban Technologies

Tata Motors on Monday announced that it has bagged an order of 500 electric vehicles (EVs) from Lithium Urban Technologies, the world's largest commercial EV fleet provider outside of China.

As per the contract, Tata Motors would supply 400 Tigor EVs by FY20 across India in the first batch. The next batch of 100 EVs would include cars to be launched in the future like the Nexon EV.

While it is a shot in the arm for Tata Motors, the EVs would also help Lithium Urban Technologies expand its current fleet of 1,000 EVs, stated a press release. "The induction of new extended range Tigor EVs and future EVs into our portfolio will add further differentiation to our service offerings for the passenger services," said Sanjay Krishnan, founder, Lithium Urban Technologies.

The Tigor EV has a range of 213 kilometers thanks to a 21.5 kWh battery pack and is offered in three variants to buyers - E+, XM+ and XT+. It has two driving modes - Drive and Sport.

The Tigor EV starts at ₹12.59 lakh (ex showroom).
