Opel has revealed details on the fifth iteration of its Corsa, which is built on a new chassis and powered by a range of brand new engines. The city car will be unveiled in a world premiere at the Paris Motor Show this fall.

The Corsa's chassis has been entirely redesigned and its center of gravity lowered by 5mm for better stability, whether on straight highways or winding roads. On the whole, the car's new architecture contributes to improved handling and comfort all around.

Under the hood, Opel is introducing several new fuel engines, starting with the 1.0-liter Ecotec direct-injection turbo with 115hp. Equipped with the fuel-saving start/stop system, this engine is designed to produce minimal noise and vibration, according to the German manufacturer. The range of available fuel engines also includes a new 1.4-liter turbo with 100hp and two new standard engines at 1.2 and 1.4 liters. In terms of diesel engines, the new Corsa will be available with the entirely revisited 1.3-liter CDTI with 75hp or 95hp. Opel has also updated its range of manual and automatic gearboxes.

This next-generation Corsa introduces a multitude of driving aids, including blind spot alerts, traffic sign recognition, lane departure alerts, high beam assist, following distance indication and front collision warnings.

Finally, the interior of the car has also been entirely revamped. The 7-inch touch screen of the IntelliLink system is embedded in the center of the front console, near the gear shift. Using the screen or voice commands, the driver can easily operate the multimedia system, which is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The system comes pre-installed with several useful apps, including the navigation system BringGo, the podcasting platform Stitcher and the internet radio app TuneIn.

In just over 30 years, Opel has sold nearly 12 million Corsas in Europe. The new Opel Corsa will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October.
