Kawasaki launches two superbikes

Japanese bike-maker Kawasaki has expanded its India portfolio by launching two superbikes, the Ninja ZX-14R and its signature bike, the ZX-10R, in Pune on Wednesday.

India Kawasaki Motors (IKM), the fully-owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, will bring the bikes completely built units (CBU), and sell them through the newly established standalone Kawasaki shop in Pune.

The bikes are priced at 16.90 lakh for ZX-14R and 15.70 lakh for ZX-10R. Bookings will begin on Thursday. 'India is an important market. We are optimistic of one or two launches of this stature every year,' Yuji Horiuchi, MD, IKM, said.

Shigeto Nishikawa, deputy MD, IKM told HT, 'IKM has carefully monitored the 1000 cc-plus bike market in India for the past five years. Till two years back the segment was almost negligible, but now it is growing at 25%-30% year-on-year. We would like to be a part of this growth story.'
