At CES, the American manufacturer Elio is showing the definitive version of its eponymous vehicle, a three-wheeled two-seater that gets over 80 miles to the gallon. The car is now available for pre-order.

This remarkable car has two front wheels and one central wheel at the back. The 0.9-liter engine develops 55hp, taking the car from 0-60 mph (0 to 100km/h) in under 10 seconds and enabling a top speed of 100mph (around 170km/h).

The Elio gets around 80 miles to the gallon, meaning that it consumes around 2.8 liters per 100 kilometer and that its 8-gallon tank gives it a range of over 660mi or over 1,000 kilometers.

The Elio has a price tag of just $6,800, and multiple discounts are expected to be offered upon launch. The manufacturer also points out that buyers will be able to customize the car with a number of options such as body color, stereo system and leather seats, among other features.

Elio is taking orders now at eliomotors.com, and the first models are expected to ship in Q2 2015.
