EICMA: Ducati reveals 1299 Panigale and Multistrada 1200
Ahead of EICMA, the international motorcycle show in Milan, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali presented the new 1299 Panigale and Multistrada 1200 in a world premiere. Both models will be on display at the event from November 6 to 9 and are due to arrive at dealerships in early 2015.
The performance-focused 1299 Panigale boasts a 1285cc Superquadro engine with 205hp and a dry weight of just 166.5kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio close to that of the 1199 Superleggera presented in Milan in 2013. Even more impressive is the new superbike's on-board technology, which includes an inertial measurement unit (IMU), cornering ABS and Ducati Wheel Control. In its S version, the 1299 Panigale is also equipped with an Öhlins semi-active suspension and, for the first time, the Ducati Quick Shift gearbox system.

Meanwhile, the latest edition of the Multistrada 1200 introduces the Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing), the world's first motorcycle engine with variable valve timing, which packs 160hp. For the safest possible ride, the new Multistrada 1200 has been equipped with traction control, anti-wheelie control, cornering ABS and an IMU. The model also features full LED lighting with adaptive headlights.
Finally, Ducati indicated that all of its latest S models will include a Bluetooth module allowing drivers to connect a smartphone. Drivers will be able to access the primary functions of the device (calls, notifications, music, etc.) through a TFT control screen on the motorcycle.
