Hyundai Aura: All you need to know about Dzire's new rival

Hyundai recently took the covers off of Aura, its all-new sub-four meter sedan based on the Xcent but with much more sporty looks, a premium cabin and new engine options. And while the compact sedan segment in the country is not at its buzzing best currently, the Korean company is hoping the Aura can drum up some much-needed attention to put itself on a coveted pedestal.

On paper, the Aura has much working for it.

There is no denying that the designers at Hyundai have burnt the midnight lamp to give the Aura an inviting design appeal. Based on the company's new design language 'Sensuous Sportiness', the Aura gets twin boomerang DRLs with a satin front grille, projector head lights and fog lamps. From the side, the Aura has a sleek coupe-like visual appeal with large wheel arches and R15 diamond-cut alloys. On the rear, the car has been given a deliberate wide-stand appeal and features LED tail lamps, chrome strip and glossy black wrap around.

The car stands 3,995 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height. There also is 402 liters of boot space.

Under the hood, Aura becomes the only compact sedan in the country to get a BS 6 complaint diesel engine. The 1.2 l BS-6 ECOTORQ motor is more fuel efficient than ever before and offers better performance as well, says Hyundai. In addition, there are also the Kappa 1.0 I BS 6 T-GDI Petrol (Turbo), 1.2 l MPI BS-6 Petrol options. While the petrol and diesel motors have AMT options, the 1.0-litre petrol is only available with a manual transmission option.

On the inside, Aura stays true Hyundai's intent of packing features galore. Therefore, it gets an 8.0 inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity with Arkamys Premium Sound, 5.3-inch digital speedometer and MID, wireless charging, air curtain, eco coating and Driving Rear View Monitor for rear view display on screen while driving forward.

Hyundai says the Aura will be offered with 4 Years /50,000 kms or 5 Years /40,000 kms along with Road-Side Assistance. It will be launched on January 21 of 2020 and will take on Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda's Amaze.
