Mahindra launches Treo electric three-wheeler in Nepal

After India, Mahindra Electric has launched Treo e-rickshaw in neighbouring country Nepal today. The EV maker had earlier launched the electric three-wheeler commercial vehicle at a price of ₹1.69 lakh for Indian customers.

Treo has been launched in Nepal in four variants, two each to sit three and four passengers besides the driver. Mahindra claims the Treo has a very low running cost of just 50 paise per kilometre which can translate into an increase of 20 per cent in savings on fuel and maintenance.

The three-seater variant of Treo in two trims, called Treo-SFT and Treo-HRT. The three-seater variant comes equipped with a 48V lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 7.37 kWh. Mahindra claims the battery can be fully recharged in less than four hours.

The four-seater variant gets the same 48V lithium-ion battery pack which has a capacity of 3.69 kWh and takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to fully recharge.

The certified range of the Treo e-rickshaw on single charge is between 129 kms and 170 kms, depending on the variants. Mahindra claims the typical driving range is between 85 kms and 130 kms, which are more likely to be the real-life figures.

The thee-seater version of the Treo e-rickshaw is slightly more powerful than the four-seater version. It can generate an output of 5.4 kW of power, higher than 1.96 kW in the four-seaters. The torque also peaks at 30 Nm in the three-seater model, better than just 19 Nm in the other models.

Mahindra Treo also offers features like aregenerative braking system which ensures minimum wastage of energy. It also gets a digital dashboard, an IP 65 rated battery box, remote monitoring of range, speed, and location of the vehicle as well.
