This may be the facelifted X3 but in India it's playing a larger role as the launch vehicle for BMW's latest 2-litre diesel engine. The new engine is of particular importance because it will also replace the base diesel engines in the 3- and 5-series over the coming year. Identical 1995cc displacement and basic layout apart (four-cylinders, common-rail, turbocharger), the company says there's little else common between old and new engines.
